Join the discussion!

Over the last few months, the OurSay website has coordinated polling on “The Citizen’s Agenda”. This has involved voters posting questions that they want to see discussed by candidates in advance of the federal election. The questions are now being prioritised by public voting through the same website.

In the Melbourne electorate, the “winning” (i.e. most popular) questions will be posed to the candidates before an audience assembled in the Wheeler Centre on 4 September 2013.

  • To help shape the agenda for discussion at this event, visit the OurSay website before 3 September and use your 7 votes to help prioritise the questions that are already listed there. Hint: Vivienne Ortega has posted a question about immigration and sustainability that deserves much more support!
  • To hear the final winning questions and the candidates’ responses, attend this event:

Date:   Wednesday 4 September 2013

Time:   7.45pm – 9.30pm

Venue:  The Wheeler Centre, 176 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne (south side of the State Library of Victoria)

Tickets & bookings: This is a free event, but seating is limited so bookings are recommended.

We congratulate the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Advancing Journalism and OurSay for developing The Citizens’ Agenda as a social-media based research project.
